sunny saturday...

it's been a while since we woke up super early for an esate sale, but i'm so glad that we did this morning!   up at 5am and waiting outside by 7am for a 9:30am sale isn't easy, but someones got to do it, right?!?! it's a lot of fun going through the houses and sorting through tons of items picking out the ones you may enjoy.   the beautiful bright sunny day sure helped keep us happy and motivated.   we were the first ones on site so that meant we had to start 'the list'   well, at least we were # 1 & 2 to get inside....   however for the first time there wasn't a massive list and she just let us all go in together anyway.    oh well!

we started off in east meadows and found an absolutely stunning heywood wakefield set.  a two seater sofa with one arm, one seater with no arm, and one seater with the arm, and a beautiful square dual level end table.   that means there are LOTS of possibilities with how you can arrange them!  (so you can get the idea of what i'm talking about - this website sold one almost exactly like it with different cushions - http://furnishmevintage.com/livingroom/mid-century-modern-heywood-wakefield-2-piece-sectional/ )  also with it we snagged another surfboard coffee table, two rad bar stools (also heywood wakefield) AND an absolutely gorgeous lounge chair.   the lounge chair needs a complete makeover, but man-oh-man when it's done it's going to be a beauty!

sean had a really long day at work the day before and wasn't home until around midnight... so with the 2.5 hours we sat there waiting to go in he got to take a little cat nap.   i scoured the photos again to make a 'plan of attack' and try to figure out where the items we were could be.

and here is the big score!   heywood wakefield for all of the pieces...the upholstery needs a lot of cleaning or to be re-done... i love the pattern, but maybe we'll update to a classy solid.  wish we had a better photo... but we'll post the office' before' picturesmonday.

here's our HW surfboard table, fancy  HW lounge sofa (that looks like a chair that should be in the garbage at the moment) and the HW bar stools.    i was just going to get us a cargo van, but i'm very thankful that we opted for a small truck instead - little did we know what was ahead!
i also snagged a little fur shawl (BEAUTIFUL & perfect for weddings!) and two lovely 100% silk headscarves.

we decided to go to a second sale about 15 minutes away... there were a few items i saw avail online but figured that they would have been sold out long before we arrived.   it turns out that estate sale traffic was extremely low today and it was meant to be ours... lucky us (and you!)

we found two interesting sofas (only one has a base and so essentially both need to be 're-done'), a rad little telephone table (PERFECT FOR GUEST BOOKS!), some dishes,  a beautiful gold detail/glass shaker/decanter with matching little glasses, a reddish samsonite suitcase, and a super long formica top dining table with 8 chairs.  ALL SOLID pieces.

sean got to use all of his experience as a truck PA today to make sure everything was packed away securely for the long trip home.    tie those knots well!!

sean with his tape measure and knife.  it all somehow miraculously fit!  (well, we had fit the end table + an armed dining chair into our car) but it all made its way to brooklyn!

now the question is: where in the hell do we store it all?!?!

thanks to all the ladies (and gentleman) for your help.    what a great day!

introducing our newest addition to yellow house...

happy friday!! we've been working really hard to get the ins and outs of the company up and running, which has of course been a little trial and error (creating/running our own website, inventories, merchant accounts, etc!) but i think we're finally in a really good place.   we now are set up to take most major credit cards INCLUDING american express!  one of our favorite pieces, the surfboard table, is on a very big shoot right now with one of our favorite prop shoppers and we hope to get a photo to share with you!

BUT....

the biggest news we want to share right now on this lovely morning is the addition of cleared art to our collective.   we've been toying with the idea of adding art to the inventory for a while as we have sooo many talented connections plus cleared art here in nyc is getting harder to find newer pieces that haven't been used over and over again or / in good shape.   we've personally hired people on jobs to create items for us in the past and used our own favorite photos instead of the hassle with getting the same pieces we always rent....  we felt like it was very important to help these artists showcase their work as well as bringing another element to YHC you may find useful.   we'll be rolling out over the next few months several types of art - photography, graphic designs, as well as some very cool paintings/works on canvas.   we've got artists on board from all over and all with different styles to give you a variety of work to choose from depending on your projects needs.   we also are able to work out custom pieces tailored to your needs on a case-by-case basis.   don't hesitate to ask if you like someones style and would like additional pieces to purchase/rent!

the electronic media can be customized based on your needs regarding sizing and available with or without frames.  contact us to discuss the details of your project and we can go from there.

introductions:

our first artist is devender sellars based out of charleston, sc.  devender works at the charleston city paper as a graphic designer, but shoots when he can.  he's very talented in the arts all around, musically, creative, and of course the visual arts we are showcasing.  we love his work and hope to get some of his designs in as well!
these are a few of our favorite images that we think you'll like...

more images are available on the website so go take a look and let us know what you think!

also, please help us get our name out there by sharing us with your favorite shoppers/associates/friends/and well, everyone!   "like" us on facebook and share... www.facebook.com/yellowhousecollective

we hope to hear from you soon!

Updates!

The website
So now our website is live! you can check it out at www.yellowhousecollective.com
It's got most of our inventory on there- we didn't photograph everything but you can get an idea of our collection.  We are always looking for new pieces to add- so check it every so often!

We sent out a mass email to share the launch with our friends, family, coworkers, and others that we hope to gain as clients... Unfortunately between the site launch and the mass of emails going out we seem to be having a little technical difficulties... We hope it reached most and if you received and haven't sent it to anyone you think would be interested, please do!
On a side note, we have also had issues with emails incoming the last few days- it says there is a delay and that we should receive but please comment (on here or facebook) or call if you're having issues reaching us that way.

New additions as of 9/14:

Yesterday we came across this gem.
Steelcase office chair in a lovely orange office chair.

And we also found this awesome little creamer dish to match our gold leaf collection....

We'll be back at the sales soon getting new items... And possibly even a trip down south to get new goods...

Have a great Sunday!
